Protesters Crash DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s Dinner

On the website of D.C.’s MXDC Cocina Mexicana restaurant it reads in part:

Need to make an impression? Host your next private event at MXDC”.

Well, here is one private event held there recently which has certainly made an impression: June 19 was just another nice afternoon for having a business lunch between Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and Department of Homeland Security Press Secretary, Tyler Houlton.

Reports say that after they had been there for a while a group of protesters, apparently led by DOJ employee Allison Hrabar, marched in, disrupting patrons’ meals, and began making protest comments; at times clapping while chanting some of the following:

  • End family separation
  • If kids don’t eat in peace, you don’t eat in peace
  • Kirstjen Nielsen, you’re a villain locking up immigrant children
  • Shame on Nielsen, shame on Trump

While one would think the management of the restaurant would want to maintain peace for the rest of their customers and politely ask the protesters to leave, quite the opposite.  According to an article in The Daily Caller:

“We are not upset the protesters came here and we are not upset even if it was any of our staffers [who tipped off] the protesters,” the MXDC Cocina Mexicana manager, who refused to give his name, told TheDCNF. “We are happy about what happened.”

Perhaps many people would jump up and reply to defend themselves in a moment like this, Kirstjen Nielsen kept calm and did not give the pleasure of a response.

After several minutes of protests, with her head held high, Kirstjen Nielsen walked confidently from the restaurant to her waiting vehicle.

Seemingly unphased by all of this, Kirstjen Nielsen has not wasted her time commenting on the event.  She posted on twitter:

I will work tirelessly until our broken immigration system is fixed, our borders are secure and families can stay together.

Kirstjen Nielsen’s twitter account remains open to the public, taking a barrage of hate tweets, while Democratic Socialists of America member Allison Hrabar’s twitter account is now “protected”; she is probably not willing to take the heat from her detractors.

What do they say?  If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen (or restaurant in this case).

On June 20, President Trump signed an executive order to keep families together. Saying about the separation of children at the border: “It’s been going on for 60 years”, adding, “Nobody has had the political courage to take care of it; but we’re going to take care of it.”

As you might expect, reviews of this restaurant have gone from average to extreme.  Reviewers are either 5 stars, all in or, 1 star, all out.
